Did Brazilian government do a good invesment?

The FIFA World Cup is one of the most expensive events in the world. To give you an idea about that, in order to bring FIFA to Brazil the amount was equal to 61% of education budget and I am pretty sure you wonder in what was invest. Approximately, Brazilian Government has invest $1 trillion in different public works for this event including: rebuild and in some cases build stadiums and arenas, create a rapid-transit train from Sãu Paulo to Rio , new ports , new subway lines ,etc. And around 14 billion of dollars or more were destined for all the soccer outgoings.Furthermore, this World Cup has been the most pricey of all the Worl Cup's story.

The huge investment generated many jobs for many people but the key point is what it is going to happen after the World Cup and the Summer Olympic Games take place in Brazil. Yes, if you did not know that Brazil is going to hold the Olympic Games in 2016, now you know. Brazilian Government convinced the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to celebrate that sport event. Both associations accepted and nowadays the stadiums are receiving most international and South American teams, tourist, journalist , Brazilians and other people with “Football Fever”.

Obviously, Brazilian government is going to receive with a happy face all of the part from the badge that they receive according to the treatment with FIFA who is going to collect 4 billion of dollars or more  without invest any cent. However, the most indignant is that these billions have all come from public funds which could have paid for schools, hospitals, security, teachers, food and many others worthy social programs.

According to last studies, an estimated 20% of Brazilians live in abject poverty and Brazilian economy will only grow 1.44% this year. So has the government considered how are they going to sustain all the expenses that these modern stadiums need? Or are they going to reduce the budget from other services? We have to wait until those event finish to know what is going to be the situation of all the invesment.
